I've been at home today working on my final creative writing assignment. Writing is such a funny process; sometimes you get flow and other days it's like flogging the proverbial dead horse. Today I have creative flow :) I've got my idea, my characters, the plot and all that sorted for my short story. Just have to write it out properly now.

VALLEY VENTURES

What a lovely day it's been! The weather's been amazing and I had brunch and went to the Valley markets with some gal pals. I think I needed a day like this; the last few days have been a wee bit stressful for me.

BTW I'M 20 NEXT WEEK!!

So many people freak out about leaving teenage-dom behind them but I'm so excited about entering the twenties! It's the time when you finish uni, you can finally get a decent job (well I hope to anyway!), you get to travel more and discover more about yourself. I can't wait!! x

GOOD FRIDAY

Photobucket

Photobucket

I realised after my last post that I should probably mention what I've been up to in my absence. Well here's my news:
  1. My mac died :( I hadn't backed up my files so I lost EVERYTHING. I was in a state of barely-concealed anxiety for that entire week - thank God it was repaired so quick! Major kudos to the mac geniuses that fixed it. And I'm grateful it all happened before I had to do all my big 50% assignments.
  2. One of my oldest friends has just come back to Australia. She's been living in America and Thailand for the past three years so it's so good to have her back!
  3. I'm now going to be a contributor to another blog: gen-er-a-tions. It's basically a blog that takes an insightful yet tongue-in-cheek look at the quirks of Gen Y, Z etc.
So nothing earth-shattering but there you go. I'm on mid-semester holidays now filling my time with catching up on uni work, hanging with lovely people and hopefully blogging more regularly. xx

KING'S SPEECH

Photobucket

I finally saw The King's Speech yesterday. Now I know what all the Oscars buzz was about - such a good film! Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush were fantastic. Go watch it if you get the chance, before it leaves the cinemas.

WUTHERING HEIGHTS

I've finished Pride and Prejudice and now I've moved on to Wuthering Heights :) I'm not far in so I can't give my full opinion yet but it's definitely got me hooked.

A LONELY SPARK

Photobucket

I'm pretty pleased cos I finally got my mac fixed :) The plastic on the bottom of it was majorly coming off and (I didn't realise until one of the mac guys showed me) there were some minor cracks in my display screen. Anyways, they replaced the bottom and the screen for me (free of charge!) and now I have a lovely, functioning macbook that doesn't look like it's falling to bits. Yay for the awesome mac store people!

CAVE DWELLER

I've been meaning to write over the 3 month break. Something. Anything. But so far, I haven't really done much. However, the muse (ha!) came to me whilst I was awake in the hideously early hours of the morning. The finished product: a short but sweet piece entitled Homebody Festivities. I emailed it off to the folks at Thought Catalog - essentially it's a place for writers to publish the completely random articles they probably won't get published elsewhere. That probably makes it sound like they must be rubbish or something, which believe me, they're not. Anyways...probably a little ambitious of me to send something in considering the fact that most of the other contributors are actual full-time journos/writers. But hey, I'm not afraid of trying!

WHITE FEATHER

Photobucket

Goodness me. It's just gone 3am and I am awake. Noooooooo!!! If you're at all wondering why this is so, (if you're not, well...I'm telling you anyway) it's because my crazy mother is currently up and about the house and she came into my room and (accidentally) woke me up. Now I won't be able to go back to sleep :(

COLD AND NEED...SLEEP

Saturday night I went to my friends' band's EP launch (Cold and Need is their name - go listen to them!). They did a great job but unfortunately the set finished after midnight. After a half hour wait for the train, forty minute train ride and a forty minute walk we arrived home...after 2am. Yuck. My nanna body hates late nights and since I was busy all day yesterday (running off no sleep) I kind of slept til 12 today. Also yuck. I definitely feel that pushed the boundary of friendship so I won't do that again in a hurry!

BRAIN DEAD

My brain feels numb from staring at this screen too long. I hereby ban myself from this computer for the rest of the day. That should work.

SNOW

Gosh I miss snow! Unfortunately there's no chance of ever getting some here in sunny Brisbane but last year my sister and I were in England over Christmas and there were mountains of the white stuff. We were like big kids; we had so much fun sledging, igloo building and having snowball fights in the streets. It even started snowing on New Years Eve in London...so magical.
